The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 American drama film written and directed by Frank Darabont. The film is based on the 1982 Stephen King novel Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.
The film tells the story of Andy Dufresne, a banker who spends 19 years in Shawshank State Prison for the murder of his wife and lover despite his claims of innocence. During his time in prison, he befriends a fellow inmate, Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding, and finds himself protected by guards after the warden begins using him in his money-laundering operation.
There are many reasons why it’s still the number one movie on IMDb anyway, it has a timeless story about the little one who was unfairly punished and ultimately triumphed over adversity to win the day get revenge.
“The Shawshank Redemption” isn’t a depressing story, although I may have made it look like this. There is a lot of life and humor in it, the warmth of the friendship built between Andy and Reid, there is even excitement and suspense, albeit not when we expect it. But the movie is mostly an allegory about holding on to a sense of personal worth, despite everything. If the movie is a little slow in its cross-sections, maybe that too is part of the idea of giving us a sense of the passage of time, before the glory of ultimate redemption.
The movie is full of life lessons that are certainly understood and felt better after watching it. The performances of the two main characters are undoubtedly convincing, the film pulls very effectively on the springs of the heart and allows you to feel sympathy for the alleged criminals. The film is also well crafted from a technical point of view, with good use of camera angles and pleasantly crafted cinematography.
The Shawshank Redemption movie that includes acting, music, plot, filming, directing, editing, and the story is a perfect fit. This is one of the most impressive movies that makes you feel good. This Oscar-nominated film is directed by Frank Darabont and features Morgan Freeman, Tim Robbins, and Bob Gunton. All the actors played their roles perfectly. The Shawshank Redemption is a must-watch.
